DC Trip: Part II

Our trip to DC began with Ann taking us for a tour around where she lives. She lives in the Navy Yards which used to be a not-so-nice part of town but has really been built up over the past few years. She lives within walking distance of the Nationals Stadium and the Capitol. In fact, you can see the capitol from the big windows in her condo. Unfortunately, as you can see from the picture below, there is some construction going on that is eventually going to totally block her view 😦
Eastern-MarketSunday morning we headed to St. Peters on the Hill where we met Kerstin, a friend of ours from Franciscan. She is now a counselor in McLean, VA and had just moved to the area a few days prior to our visit! Following Mass we had brunch at a cute French restaurant in a neat part of town. Then we headed over to Eastern Market where we browsed through the different booths. My favorite was the Polish pottery and jewelry. Ann and I each bought a pair of earrings for my brother’s wedding and Kerstin found these really awesome decorative panels to use as a headboard in her bedroom.Eastern-MarketSunday evening Ann and I went out to take photos at sunset and we came back to find Luke enjoying himself in the hot tub 🙂 So we continued our shoot with Luke as our model…I think he had fun!Hot-Tub

Miami Heat

Luke and I went to a Miami Heat game this Friday and it was so much fun! We left right after work and got there just in time for the dunk show before the 8 o’clock game. Luke surprised me with way nicer seats than I was expecting which made it even better! The game was against the Sixers and marked their 17 game winning streak! We were a little worried in the beginning when the Sixers took the lead but the Heat pulled it out in the end. The Heat can’t be beat!! I can proudly say I now know the names of all the players and I have my favorites! Bird man being one of them! 🙂 I’m looking forward to watching the game tonight against the Pacers to see if the Heat can stay on top. Should be a good game!

Finding the Light

So much of photography has to do with light. I’m still trying to understand it all so my friend Aimee offered to help me “find the light” one evening. We drove around town and ended up at this spot. It was actually a little cloudy out which was OK at first because the clouds worked as a natural diffuser. However, as the sun continued to go down a big cloud covered it up ending our photo session prematurely. Bummer!

AimeeAimee had been staying with us for a couple weeks finishing up work here in Florida before moving up to North Georgia. She is gone now and we miss her and her husband!! Two of our good “couple” friends moved this month 😦 We’re sad that they are gone but super happy for them. Below is a picture of Aimee and I at Clam Pass beach. She wanted to go to the beach one last time before leaving Florida. It was a gorgeous day. We thought we’d be chilly in swim suits so we opted for shorts and t-shirts. We ended up being really HOT! Should have known better 🙂Beach
