We had a whole list of things to do while in Boston and one of those things was visiting Boston Public Garden. One gorgeous afternoon we headed down there for a walk and it was absolutely beautiful. I think the pictures speak for themselves! That evening we headed over to Beacon Hill and had dinner at The Paramount. After dinner we stopped for some authentic italian ice-cream on the way home.
Luke and I had a really fun time renting a house with some friends of ours who moved away last year. They now live in North Georgia where Barrett coaches the Young Harris tennis team. They were in Florida for some tennis matches so we drove a couple hours to meet them and spend the week with them. The tennis team had an awesome week where they went 3 and 1 and even beat a nationally ranked team! The house was awesome with beautiful views of the bay. It was all a big surprise to me as Luke and Barrett planned the whole thing. I have to say I was quite impressed with the house! The house was just a few miles from Honeymoon Island. We spent most of our time by the pool at the house but we did get to the beach one day. It was the perfect day for the beach, 70’s with a cool breeze. One of our favorite things about the house was the zip line into the pool and the hot tub! Below are some animated photos of the boys being boys 🙂…and Aimee and I 🙂The house even had a kayak that Luke took out one day. He went all around the bay looking at all the big houses. It was a super relaxing trip …as you can see from the pics below. Luke definitely had a relaxing time 🙂 He cracks me up! But alas…we had to say goodbye and leave our friends and the beautiful bay. We’ve been back to work for about a week but Luke has a conference in NYC next weekend so I should have some more travel pics up soon!
Our final day in Michigan arrived and I realized I had not taken any pictures of the beautiful fall colors like I had hoped! To remedy this situation my mom pulled over on the side of the road on our way home from Mass that morning and we hopped out of the car and took these pics 🙂 I think they turned out pretty nice for just picking a random spot on the side of the road! Glad we were able to make it happen! PS wish my dad had been with us! He drives to Mass separately because he’s a sacristan and has to get there early. Oh well, next time!
While in Michigan we celebrated my bday a little early. Luke had me totally fooled about my gift. He had dropped subtle hints that he had gotten me something totally different so I was completely surprised and so excited that he actually got me exactly what I wanted which was a really nice tripod! I love how happy he looks in the pics below…he’s so happy he could make me happy! Love my hubby!Below is a family photo we took with my new tripod! Worked like a charm 🙂 PS we missed you Paul and Lauren!Later in the afternoon we all drove to Frankenmuth which is a town in Michigan known for it’s Oktoberfest! No one could believe that my parents have lived in Michigan for 10+ years and have never been to Frankenmuth! It was a first for all of us. Of course before we could do anything we had to stop at Bronner’s where it’s Christmas all year round! After Bronner’s we headed to the Bavarian Inn for a yummy German meal 🙂
Luke and I just got back from a little vacation visiting my parents. It was so nice to have a break from work and to experience a change in the season. It was a tad cold for this Florida gal but I absolutely loved seeing all the beautiful fall colors! Wish we could have stayed longer 😦 Our first day there we went to Westview Orchards to pick up a yummy pie! Luke picked out a Very Berry pie and I’m told it was delicious! I’ll be posting some more pics from our trip tomorrow 🙂
I was recently inspired by another photographer to take pics of my husband and since Luke is such a good sport, he played along 🙂 As you can see from the pics, they don’t call this the golden hour for nothin’. There was some pretty crazy sunflare on the first three images despite my lens hood. I’ll have to learn how to avoid that better in the future.
Exhibit A: my handsome hubby!
He also took a few of me…this is my half smile smirk 🙂Isn’t he handsome?! I guess I’m biased! 😉
Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit with a childhood friend that I haven’t seen since I was 4 or 5 years old! Our families were very close way back when we lived in Beaumont, Texas! Thanks to the lovely internet (instagram to be exact) I noticed Carolyn posted a pic of her daughter all dressed up, helping her pack for vacation. I asked where she was headed and soon found out that she was vacationing only about an hour or so away from where we live! We exchanged phone numbers and met for dinner, dessert and chatting last night. It was so wonderful to catch up and hear about how everyone in her family is doing. Can’t believe everyone is all grown up! I hope we can get together again sometime. Carolyn lives in Nashville with her husband and two young daughers. We just had some friends move there so maybe that’s an excuse to visit Nashville! Check out the pictures below for a walk down memory lane 🙂 In the picture on the left we were playing dress up…notice Carolyn to the right of me… 😉 The picture on the right is at Carolyn’s birthday party. She is on the far left, her sister Christin is on the bike and I’m the one pouting in the yellow polka dot shirt.Above are some more pictures of us girls. The last picture is when Carolyn’s little brother John was born…fun memories! 🙂 And here we are now!
Today is my sweet husbands birthday! We celebrated this weekend by having some friends over for a Dessert and Game Party. We offered five different delicious desserts and spent the remainder of the night playing Reverse Charades. It was really fun! The dessert menu featured:
Happy Birthday to the most handsome, intelligent, hardworking, loving, caring, sweet and simply the best husband in the world! I love you so much and I am so thankful that God brought us together. Looking forward to celebrating many many many more birthdays with you! XOXO 🙂
I’m finally getting around to posting about our trip to Charlottesville where we spent a few days visiting with family before my brother’s wedding June 1. Below are some photos from our outing to a few vineyards outside of Charlottesville. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. We also visited Devil’s Backbone Brewery one day for lunch. My brother’s company does all of the design work for them, so that was neat to see. Below are some pics of our family 🙂
In addition to seeing the monuments, we also stopped by the Library of Congress which was situated right next to the Capitol. Luke enjoyed reading the ancient Bibles and seeing the exhibit on the Civil War. Neither of us had ever been there before, it was really beautiful inside…just wish we could have had more access to the books 🙂After the Library of Congress, Luke’s dad told us we should check out the Botanical Gardens across the way. Ann met up with us and we all enjoyed seeing the different types of plants. My favorite were the cacti!
